The Friends of Bennerley viaduct began looking into improving its sustainability sector in 2023 and the first professional report shall be released at the end of 2024/beginning of 2025.
In the meantime, please take a brief look at what the charity has in place with commitments to a sustainable future.
- Severn Trent Community Fund Project ‘Beneath the Bridge: The life and people of Bennerley Marsh’ – Improving the nature reserve by creating wildlife habitats, food systems and water quality of the River Erewash.
- Providing a nature trail venue for local well-being groups to exercise and communicate to prolong their service using experience.
- Only use merchandise suppliers that give access to supply chain and labour cost breakdowns, we only local groups ensuring this also strengthens the local economy.
- Commute to our site by either foot, cycle or use of electronic bike, provided by our funders.
- Created a visitor centre consultation panel to build a strategy for long-term sustainability within the organisation.
- Attended environmental events; Shipley Community Gardens Greenfolk Festival and Eastwood Green Festival to educate our team and partner with other local eco-friendly groups.
- Develop an understanding of our organisation as an entire ecosystem so we consider the business as a living species affected by each decision.
- Considerably low waste, we offer in-person collection when people place ordered with us before we post goods out via in-land shipping.
- Do not use third-party online retailers unless there is no other alternative providers.
- Do not partake in the use of artificial intelligence and digital manipulation. We trust real working human beings and their high-standard of work that they bring to the table.
