Iron-2-Iron bike ride is back!

Spurred on by a successful tour last year, the Iron to Iron cycle ride is going ‘back2back’!

The national bike ride fundraiser for Friends of Bennerley Viaduct kicks off on Sunday 13th September and this time the peloton is starting in the east.

The intrepid cyclists plan to ride from Great Yarmouth to Bennerley Viaduct, visiting ten notable bridges along the way and travelling via Norwich, Thetford, King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Leicester to arrive at Bennerley Viaduct on Friday 18th September.

The 403km-long journey is intended to raise the profile of Friends of Bennerley Viaduct, as well as encouraging much-needed donations which are always appreciated. These are used for ongoing landscaping and restoration work, community engagement, and to buy materials for school sessions, as well as tools for our work group.

Last year, the cyclists on the Iron to Iron (West) raised funds towards a new footbridge that will allow the footpath below the viaduct to be extended across the river. These donations enabled FoBV to submit a planning application, which has now been approved, as well as the outline for the building materials.
